Jon Alkorta Martiartu received his PhD from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in the year 2019, after presenting a comparative study of the problems raised by the idea of progress in canonical British fantasy and the Earthsea universe of American author Ursula K. Le Guin. Since then, his research has still been focused on said universe created by Le Guin and its portrayal of progress, but has veered towards the identity problems that can arise within the individual itself, looking at the different responses given to these issues, as well as the recovery processes of each individual. In addition to this, he has translated some works from English into Spanish, the last being a set of essays on Tolkien’s Middle-earth. He has also helped organize and participated as a speaker in several international conferences in Spain and Portugal since the year 2016.
