If there is something that sets cinema apart, besides its spectacularity, it is its teamwork. If your technicians are not only specialists, but also great artists, the chances are you will obtain a phenomenal product. Surrounding oneself with great craft artists guarantees that you are on the right track, at least at a 90%; the remaining 10% is the actors’ job. That is why this round table includes great artists who have made a name for themselves among the different crafts that make up cinema and have, to an extent, incorporated the element of fantasy to their fantastic work.

We all have our own fantasies. We have all felt superheroes, or even villains, at some point. Why does our imagination enjoy taking flight?
For us to enjoy these little pleasures, there are people who are so weird and special that have the ability to capture in a book the lives of diverse fantastic creatures, as can be gods and goddesses, fairies, elves, ralunys, barns, and sedeenarios among other beings that our mind can conceive, and even those of real-life people as children, soldiers, bankers, … all of which can pass through magical doors that lead to other worlds. But they do not just invent creatures, but also potions, foods, suns and worlds full of strange lands, frozen lakes, ghostly forests, cities on trees and enchanted houses.
Fantasy was born among those first humans that, together in the shelter of a cave and around a fire, began to tell stories under the watchful eye of their peers. Today, here and now, as in that primeval cave, we bring creators of fantasy stories to plunge ourselves into their minds and see how and why they create those worlds and beings that marvel us so and how it is that they have so much imagination.

The comic, the Ninth Art, has a fantastic side in many ways.
In this round table, chaired by Joseba Gómez—historian, scriptwriter and graphic novel populariser— we will thoroughly dissect this exciting world. This is a detailed dissection where many local artists will participate: Marijo Lojo (a fantasy painter), Txabi Arnal (professor of children’s literature), Begoña Pérez (psychologist and interested in the therapeutic applications of comic strips) and comic seller Pablo Gorosabel.
Focusing on comic books and fantasy from diverse perspectives, the conclusions that we will draw in this pleasant talk will allow participants to see a major art of varied hues and infinite potentialities with new eyes.
