Dr Gorka López de Munain is an assistant professor at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where he teaches on the Art History Degree. Since 2013 he has been a researcher at the Visual Anthropology Department of the University of Buenos Aires, where he teaches image theory on the master’s degree in “Artistic Heritage and Culture in Colonial South America”. He is currently working on two research topics: the visual culture of death and the medieval art of the Basque Country. He has carried out two long research stays at the University of Buenos Aires, where he has worked on the theorisation of the image from different approaches (Visual Studies, Bildwissenschaft and Experimental Aesthetics).
