Amaia Soroa-Bacaicoa holds a BA in English Studies, an MA in Comparative Literature, and an MA in Secondary Education Teacher Training from the University of the Basque Country. She is currently a PhD student at the same university, where she has been granted a predoctoral scholarship. Her dissertation examines the portrayal of mental health issues in contemporary Latina literature, and she is also doing research on Latinx comics, podcasts, and multimodal projects. In 2019, she became a member of the REWEST research group and of the project “New Wests: The American West in 21st century literature, cinema and culture” funded by the Spanish Government. She has been a visiting researcher at the John F. Kennedy Institute for American Studies in Berlin and presented her research at various international conferences.
