He holds a degree in Hispanic Philology from the University of Deusto (1986) and a PhD in Spanish Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid (1993). He is a Lecturer in Spanish Literature and a specialist in Contemporary Spanish Literature and researches mainly on 20th century Spanish poetry and its relations with culture and society (intertextuality; relations between poetry and history and poetry and ideology; political commitment and social poetry; etc.), although he has also worked on contemporary theatre, avant-garde and current narrative, and other subjects. He is the author of more than twenty books and more than a hundred articles in national and international publications, as well as in collective books. He is responsible for editions of works by Juan Ramón Jiménez, Miguel Mihura, Félix Grande, Diego Jesús Jiménez and Luis Alberto de Cuenca, among others. A lecturer at the UPV/EHU since 1994, he teaches undergraduate and master’s degree courses and has been a guest lecturer and speaker at various national and foreign universities.
