Associate Professor at the UPV/EHU. Since 1999 he has worked in the Art History Degree and in the CYXAC and ACTP Masters of the aforementioned university. Graduate in Geography and History (1991) and PhD in Art History (2003) from the UPV/EHU. Specialist in History and Aesthetics of Cinematography from the University of Valladolid (1994).
His lines of research focus on the cinema of Luis G. Berlanga, as well as on the Spanish cinema of the Franco era, the interdisciplinarity between cinematographic theory and praxis or the concept and identity of Basque cinema. He is the author or co-author of 10 books, 48 book chapters, 34 scientific articles, and 38 contributions to national and international conferences. He has helped in 8 projects and research groups, being the principal investigator in one of them. He directs 5 doctoral theses in progress. It has 2 six-year terms recognized by the CNEAI.
He is also a film and television director having directed 2 commercially released feature films, 7 short films and 1 13-episode television series. With these audiovisual works, she has been selected 330 times in national and international festivals and has obtained 70 awards and 1 nomination for the Goya Awards from the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, an institution in which she is a full member. He has directed the ICOFF-GASTEIZ Short Film Festival since 2022 and has been Director of University Projection of the Araba Campus (2009-2018). He belongs to the RSBAP.
