Olga Fernández Vicente graduated in English Studies from the University of Deusto, where she obtained her PhD in 2013 with a thesis entitled Quests for Independence: a Comparative Study of James Joyce and Pío Baroja’s attempts to Break Boundaries. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary Irish literature and its links with contemporary Basque writers. She has participated in numerous international conferences and published several articles on the topic of Irish and Basque literature. She is currently working on the relationship of magic realism, violence and society in the works of Jan Carson.
