Dr. Sandra Maturana

Dr. Maturana is a multilingual director, voice over and actress.

She trained in Escuela de Juan Carlos Corazza, completed an MA at RADA (London) and holds a PhD from the University of the Basque Country. She attended the Director’s Lab at the Lincoln Center Theater (NY), the director’s course at the Young Vic (London), physical theatre workshops at l’Ecole Internationale de Théâtre de Jacques Lecoq (Paris) and she did a residency at the Odin Teatret (Denmark). She has developed excellent movement skills through her training in physical theatre with companies such as Frantic Assembly and Complicite.

Sandra was a Jerwood Assistant Director at the Young Vic where she assisted Oliver Mears on My Dad´s a Birdman; other assisting credits include Seven Angels by The Opera Group (ROH2 and tour), The Mouse and His Child (RSC) and Hope ( Royal Court). She was also a resident director at Matilda The Musical in the West End.

As a director she has staged plays at The Riverside Studios (A Date with Doris), Theatre 503 (Building Walls), the Edinburgh Festival (Alice´s Shadow), The Albany (Love of Don Perlimplin), Oval House (Borderlands) and BAC. She was a fellow director at the Space where she directed the UK premiere of Hamlyn by Mayorga.

She has worked as a movement director in Venus Mars (The Old Red Lion/The Bush), Socrates and his Clouds (Jermyn street theatre), Sinbad (Roundhouse), The Government Inspector (Parallel production at the Young Vic), Seven Angels (The Opera Group) and Frankenstein: The Metal Opera (The Space).

As an actor her credits include BBC Doctors, Dreamthinkspeak production In the Beginning Was the End (Somerset House), The House of Bernarda Alba (The Space), Darkness Cycle (The Place), Danae (adler’s Wells) and playing Tinkerbell in the O2´s production of Peter Pan.
